Empty Space by Olafur Eliasson at Scandinavian Furniture Fair

Copenhagen

Lars Norman

2004

‘Empty Space’ was an installation made by artist Olafur Eliasson in 2004 for Scandinavian Furniture Fair. The idea was to create a passage when removing GRID elements from a massif. Walking through, visitors became part of the interactive installation. The inspiration arose from GRID’s designer Peter J. Lassen’s vision that GRID as a system only works through interaction with the user.
